We are currently recruiting for an Investment Manager to join our Maven team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Maven’s team, based in Nottingham, manages a Debt fund as part of Midlands Engine Investment Fund II (MEIF II), launched by the British Business Bank in 2024 to support regional SMEs. The Fund offers loans between £100,000 and £2 million.

The role involves originating, completing, and monitoring loan transactions to SMEs in the East and South East Midlands.

WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED

• Experience providing loan finance to UK SMEs.
• Proven track record in originating and executing transactions from initial contact to completion, including understanding of loan and security structures.
• Backgrounds in business, commercial, and corporate banking, corporate finance, or accountancy.
• Excellent numeracy skills and financial analysis capabilities.
• Strong relationship management skills and stakeholder engagement experience.
• Successful networking and business development record.
• Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Ability to prioritize and work under pressure.
• Attention to detail.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop and maintain a network of key business introducers in the East Midlands to promote Maven and MEIF II, and build a pipeline of deal opportunities.
• Assess new loan proposals and prepare investment papers for the MEIF II credit committee.
• Negotiate loan terms with management teams and advisors, and coordinate due diligence, including AML/KYC processes.
• Build ongoing relationships with portfolio businesses to monitor performance and add value where needed.
• Assess and monitor monthly management accounts, covenants, and budgets to ensure ongoing debt serviceability.
