Job description

We are actively recruiting for an Investment Manager to join us on a full-time, permanent basis in London.

This is a key client-facing role, responsible for client investment portfolios, client relationships, and supporting client engagement with our financial planners.

You will manage up to 100 clients with portfolios of £500,000 or more, following our central investment strategies. The role involves acquiring new clients, primarily through collaboration with our Wealth Planners and Business Development managers, and presenting our services to potential clients and introducers such as lawyers and professional advisers.

The role also supports our investment strategy and business plans through input to our Personal Portfolio Committee. You will ensure compliance with regulatory and professional standards, and maintain ongoing technical competence and professional development.

Please note, this role is mainly based from our London office 4/5 days per week.

What you’ll do as an Investment Manager:

1. Ensure clients are served and managed to the highest professional standards, in line with all regulatory considerations.
2. Provide excellent communication and service to all clients.
3. Ensure clients understand their investments, that these are suitable, and conduct performance, risk profile, and other reviews at appropriate intervals.
4. Manage ad hoc client requirements, maintaining high satisfaction levels.
5. Follow company policies and procedures for consistent, efficient client servicing and risk management.
6. Manage client portfolios to high standards, ensuring asset allocation aligns with mandates and models, and implement changes promptly.
7. Monitor tax implications of portfolios, especially CGT, and review model exceptions with the Head of Investment for any deviations.
8. Collaborate with Financial Planning colleagues on advice related to IHT, pensions, succession, and protection.
9. Acquire new clients and grow AUM through proactive engagement with Wealth Planners and professional firms.
10. Respond to new enquiry leads, converting them into clients.
11. Encourage clients to bring additional assets, identifying opportunities in ISAs and SIPPs.
12. Contribute insights and suggestions to the investment management process via the Personal Portfolio Committee.
13. Work closely with operations, risk, and compliance teams to ensure efficient, consistent, and safe client service.
14. Identify and share process improvement opportunities.
15. Escalate compliance, operational, or reputational risks immediately to the executive committee.
16. Share knowledge and foster a team-oriented culture.

What we’re looking for:

• Minimum CISI Level 6 qualification, with a desire to progress further.
• At least three years’ experience managing UK private client portfolios.
• Experience managing third-party funds.
• Strong interest in financial markets.
• Ability to relate to a diverse range of individuals.
• Proactive, can-do attitude.
