We are seeking a Senior Associate to join our Funds team within the Financial Institutions Group, based in either Bristol or London. This role offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a respected and expanding team known for its entrepreneurial approach. The team handles high-value, strategically important projects both nationally and internationally.

The practice

Our team has extensive experience in helping managers structure, launch, and manage funds across various structures and strategies. We guide managers through the entire lifecycle of an investment fund, from structuring and establishing management entities to designing optimal fund vehicle structures aligned with investment strategies.

Our services include developing structures for management, joint ventures, private wealth, and fund vehicles; structuring around carried interest, co-investments, and other participations; tax planning and structuring (in collaboration with tax and regulatory colleagues); negotiating service-provider relationships; and providing regulatory advice on management, capital raising, trading, and distribution. We work with a wide range of funds, including Private Equity, Real Estate, Venture Capital, Hedge Funds, Infrastructure, and Natural Resources. Additionally, we handle corporate work related to wealth management, family offices, and real estate sectors.

Our funds team is among the largest in the UK, comprising leading partners with extensive industry experience. We advise UK-based and international funds on cross-border matters and have significant experience advising US investors on fund-related issues.

The work

Recent projects include:

• Venture Capital: Assisting clients like Notion, Passion Capital, PiLabs, MMC Ventures, and Salica with fund launches.
• Private Equity: Advising Foresight Group LLP, Kester Capital, Bridges Fund Management, and Farview on private equity and venture funds.
• Real Estate: Supporting Niam, Fiera Capital, Bridges Fund Management, Newcore, and Barwood Capital in real estate fund launches.
• Hedge Funds: Launching funds such as RX Diversified Portfolio, advising global hedge fund managers, and assisting with first-time fund launches like Marine, Feoh, Derby Investments, and Juniper.
• Institutional Funds: Working with clients like PGIM, Nuveen, and Deutsche Bank on various fund products.
• LP Secondaries: Managing secondary trades for Hollyport Capital.
• LP Work: Representing long-standing LP clients including global asset managers and pension schemes.
• Corporate Real Estate: Providing advice for clients such as InfraRed, Warehouse REIT, and Patrizia.
• Wealth Management: Assisting wealth managers with fund formation, co-investment vehicles, carry vehicles, and related tax, corporate, and regulatory advice.

The team

Our Financial Institutions Group operates from London and Bristol, comprising 10 Partners, 2 Legal Directors, 8 Associate Directors, 7 Senior Associates, 11 Associates, 4 Trainee Solicitors, 3 Solicitor Apprentices, and 7 Paralegals. Approximately half focus exclusively on funds, collaborating closely with tax, corporate, and contentious teams.

Technical skills and experience

Applicants should have broad knowledge and experience in private funds, both domestic and international. Due to the sophisticated nature of our work, high client contact, and team structure, we seek a Senior Associate level candidate, though more experienced candidates will also be considered.
