Title Investment Companies Specialist

Department Investment Companies

Location Cannon Street

Reports To Head of Investment Companies

Level Grade 7

We’re proud to have been helping our clients build better financial futures for over 50 years. How have we achieved this? By working together - and supporting each other - all over the world. So, join our investment companies team and feel like you’re part of something bigger.

About your team

Fidelity has had an investment companies business for more than three decades and in that time has grown the assets under management to around £6bn and established a diverse and growing investor base. Since 2010, we have raised more than £700m of new capital across our investment companies.

In addition to extensive investment resources, Fidelity has a dedicated investment companies team, including business development professionals and UK company secretaries. These are supported by wider front- and back-office functions which focus on both the closed and open-ended fund businesses (such as fund accounting, compliance, legal, administrative and distribution channels).

About your role

Supporting the Head of Investment Companies, this role provides an exciting opportunity to join an interesting and unique investment business within Fidelity.

The investment companies business works in a matrix, within which you will be interacting and managing the relationships with internal investment directors, product managers (in the UK, Tokyo, Singapore and Hong Kong), sales and marketing representatives as well as fund accounting, compliance, operations and other back-office functions.

The role provides an excellent opportunity to further develop your understanding of Fidelity’s business and expand your business network. With a broad range of responsibilities, this role will provide proactive management, support and guidance to the independent boards of the investment companies, portfolio managers, FIL business functions and end shareholders.

Your key areas of focus will include:

  • Providing strategic thinking, analysis and support in corporate activity.

  • Executing corporate activity initiatives, potentially leading a small cross-functional team.

  • Providing regular reporting of activity, effectiveness and expenditure to the investment company boards.

  • Working with the portfolio managers to ensure an appropriate level of visibility to key shareholders via a variety of mediums (face to face, video conference, webcasts etc).

  • Responsibility for the proactive organisation of wealth manager and private client liaison with companies, brokers and FIL sales teams, as part of the sales, marketing and communication effort.

  • Supporting the Head of Investment Companies in proactive day-to-day management of the companies, including reacting to questions and issues from all relevant parties (e.g. board members, investors, portfolio managers) and ensuring that these are resolved in a timely manner.

About you

You will have:

  • Excellent knowledge of investment companies and corporate finance

  • Experience in working as an analyst, portfolio manager, broker or other industry specialist and/or be a CFA/CAIA charterholder

  • A core understanding of the legal and regulatory environment in which our business operates

  • An ability to operate and communicate at a senior level

  • Exceptional analytical and critical thinking coupled with the utmost personal authority and integrity. You will also have excellent interpersonal and influencing skills, with a strong presence and the ability to adopt a versatile and culturally-sensitive approach to enable you to impact across all levels and functional, channel and cultural boundaries

  • A strong understanding of the competitive landscape, with an ability to understand client needs and translate this into a market leading product

  • A natural self-starter with the appetite for the considerable workload, intensity and challenges presented by Fidelity’s growth and the developing business. You will also be a team player, who will be able to work within the overall culture and fit with its entrepreneurial but collaborative style

Feel rewarded

For starters, we’ll offer you a comprehensive benefits package. We’ll value your wellbeing and support your development.
