Overview

Manpower are currently seeking an interim Investment and Reporting Accountant to work with The Leverhulme Trust, an independent charity established in 1925 under the Will of the Founder of Lever Brothers. The role is based close to Fleet Street in the City area of Central London. This is a full-time temporary role to last until the end of March 2027, requiring 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Compensation for this role is up to 60,000 per annum, pro rata, depending upon experience. The role offers a mix of remote and onsite working, subject to adjustment based on business requirements.

The Leverhulme Trust was established to support scholarships for the purposes of research and education. It is a charity that supports ambitious blue skies research and awards between (Apply online only) million annually. The Trust’s income comes from an endowment and it does not fundraise.

Responsibilities
  • Do the investment accounting for both the Leverhulme Trust and the Leverhulme Trade Charities Trust and manage the investment-related disclosures in both sets of accounts under the supervision of the Director of Finance.
  • Work with the Trust's custodian to automate the investment accounting process for the Leverhulme Trust.
  • Attend Investment Committee meetings and support the Director of Finance in preparing for these and completing actions arising from them.
  • Support all work related to obtaining investment confirmations to support the audit process.
  • Lead on the production of the statutory accounts for the Leverhulme Trust and work with the Director of Finance and Assistant Director of Finance on producing the Trustees Annual Report.
  • Work with the Assistant Director of Finance to develop standard management reporting from the newly implemented finance system (Microsoft Business Central).
  • Support the Director of Finance in preparing financial papers to go to the Board.
  • Support the Director of Finance on work related to the new Charity SORP.
  • Support the Director of Finance in wider responsibilities including Governance, Risk, IT and HR.
  • Work closely with the Assistant Director of Finance, especially on reporting.
  • Liaise with staff on the operations side at the Trusts outsourced investment managers and with the Trust's custodian.
  • Coordinate with and respond to questions from the Trust's auditors.
Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant (part qualified not considered).
  • Experience of accounting for financial investments, either as a preparer or auditor of accounts, is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of Charity Accounting is desirable but not essential.
  • Interest in financial and management accounting is critical.
  • Interest in developing and improving processes to make them more efficient and less manual.
  • Experience with financial systems is necessary; experience of Microsoft Business Central would be desirable.
  • Willingness to learn how to create reports in the finance system and to create such reports.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills; good communication and writing skills; ability to work flexibly as part of a cohesive team-based organization.
  • Detail-focused, well-organised, and able to manage own work.
  • IT literate with an interest in understanding and using systems.
