Investment Analyst

Manulife General Account Investment (UK) is Manulife’s primary European office sourcing private and public fixed income transactions across local markets. It collaborates with Manulife’s offices in Boston, Toronto, and Asia (Hong Kong, Singapore, Tokyo) to assess and analyze transactions and advise portfolio managers globally. Increasing exposure to European fixed income markets is a key part of the strategy.

Role and Responsibilities: Reporting to the Head of European Corporate Finance, the successful candidate will assist in screening and identifying new investment opportunities, preparing and presenting these opportunities, and reviewing existing investments. The role involves applying credit and transaction analysis, working closely with senior team members, and gaining knowledge of European, North American, and Asia Pacific markets across fixed income asset classes.

The IA will interact with UK and European bond bookrunners and internal stakeholders, including private placements like EMTNs, USPPs, schuldscheins, and project financings. They will advise on investment merits and assist in business development activities, research investment strategies, and develop sector and credit expertise. Collaboration with analysts across offices and communication skills are essential.

Investment Administration:

• Manage a diversified portfolio, monitor sector and company developments, and communicate updates timely.
• Assess corporate actions and identify new credit opportunities.

Requirements:

• Strong interest in fixed income investing and credit analysis.
• Undergraduate degree with high academic achievement.
• Excellent communication and project management skills.

• Pursuit of MBA or CFA preferred.
