In this role, you’ll be supporting the Head of Investment Operations in managing the accounting and reporting of Brit’s Group investment portfolio. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the timely delivery and accuracy of investment accounting data, and for meeting the needs of a wide range of stakeholders across the business.
You’ll lead the delivery of accurate accounting and operational processing for Brit entities and the Group’s investment portfolio, and manage the reporting submissions to Fairfax’s Investment Accounting team. You’ll also oversee MI reporting to ensure the Group’s investment portfolio is accurately monitored and reported, and you’ll be responsible for delivering a robust set of data to support investment, risk and regulatory reporting.
You’ll manage and motivate the Investment Operations team, providing leadership and technical investment accounting expertise. You’ll take ownership of accounting policy for new investment types and assess the impact of any changes. You’ll also play a key role in Brit’s Future of Finance programme, particularly in the implementation of Workday.
Day‑to‑day, you’ll work closely with senior management across both the Investment & Treasury and Finance Operations teams. You’ll ensure the integrity of data within Fairfax’s investment accounting systems and oversee its posting into the general ledger. You’ll manage and develop internal systems including the investment data warehouse, PAM and Finance MI, and ensure the timely production of investment reports for Board and Committee packs.
You’ll be responsible for delivering accurate investment analysis for statutory and regulatory reporting, tax requirements and other internal needs. You’ll ensure correct accounting and tax treatments are applied, and that the investment portfolio remains compliant with all regulatory reporting obligations. You’ll provide technical support to junior team members and maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of investment practices and regulations.
You’ll represent Accounting within the Investment and Treasury team, offering input into decision‑making and keeping the wider accounting team informed of upcoming activity. You’ll maintain a strong control and compliance framework over investment accounting and reporting, and liaise with internal and external stakeholders including Fairfax, Brit’s Tax Department, investment managers, custodians, auditors and overseas offices.
You’ll also support the delivery of key regulatory returns such as the QAD, AAD and Solvency UK to Lloyd’s, and the BSCR to the BMA under Solvency II. In addition, you’ll manage middle office processes for trade booking and settlement, monitor fund investments, and ensure external data such as pricing and corporate actions are delivered to the relevant teams.
