Do you want a role that encompasses managing a team, partnering with a fast-paced and detail-oriented business area, forecasting & reporting, driving change? Then here is an outstanding opportunity to join our UK Finance department as an Investment Accounting Manager!

As an Investment Accounting Manager, you will be managing a project accounting team of up to 10 Investment Accountants. You’ll support the team to provide comprehensive financial support, drive financial performance, and maximise regulatory returns of the National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) investment portfolio across the business.

This role is based out of our Warwick office. We expect you to be in the office at least two days per week, but you are welcome to work more often if preferred. We’re open to discussing flexible working arrangements to suit your needs.

What You'll Do

• Be the main contact for the Portfolio Management Teams, ensuring project forecasts are thorough, comprehensive, and include accurate risk considerations, aligning with the programme.
• Provide accurate reporting of project actuals, forecasts, and budgets; perform trend, variance analysis, and critical evaluation to improve project performance.
• Lead a team of 6-8 Investment Accountants, supporting them to deliver financial support, drive performance, and maximise regulatory returns of the ET investment portfolio.
• Manage monthly accounting cycles, stakeholder meetings, and deliverables, providing insights into performance and partnering with the business to add value and implement change.
• Support Senior Projects Managers and Project Directors in understanding their portfolios, regulatory outcomes, and financial performance.
• Implement standardised UK business performance processes, ensuring fit-for-purpose financial reports and forecasts.
• Utilise your financial expertise and project knowledge to support broader business objectives, emphasizing continuous improvement and process development in an evolving environment.

What You'll Have

• Qualified Accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with post-qualification experience.
• Significant experience in financial reporting, planning, forecasting, and budgeting across various projects.
• Experience managing diverse stakeholders and collaborating across teams to achieve objectives and inform decisions.
• Comfortable leading and working within virtual teams; willing to travel to sites occasionally.
• Strong skills in MS Excel and SAP.
• Good understanding of core financial processes.
• Proactive, able to manage workload independently, and deliver quality results on time.
• Adaptable, pragmatic, and capable of quickly adjusting approaches to meet changing environments and customer needs.
• Excellent stakeholder management, influencing, and collaboration skills.
• Results-oriented mindset.
