Job description

Bedford Borough Councils Investigation Service is growing, and we are looking for dedicated Investigation Officers to join our dynamic, high-performing team.

This is a rare and exciting opportunity to become part of a well-respected service that’s making a real impact in tackling fraud and protecting vital public resources across the Borough.

As an Investigation Officer, you will play a key role in conducting a variety of investigations across Council service areas and with external business partners to prevent and detect fraud, irregularities, and to safeguard public funds.

What Will You Be Doing
  1. Undertaking reactive and proactive investigations
  2. Gathering evidence to prevent, detect, and take appropriate action for fraud, theft, and error across Council services
  3. Conducting home visits and inspections across the Borough
  4. Working collaboratively with team members, other departments, and external partners during investigations and identifying service improvements to prevent fraud
What We’re Looking For
  1. Strong investigative skills with great attention to detail
  2. Knowledge of fraud and corruption risks
  3. Knowledge of Local Taxation, Council Tax Support, and Social Housing legislation

You will be required to complete a basic criminal records check for unspent convictions.
