Position Summary
We are seeking a highly organized, customer-focused, and detail-oriented Inventory and Logistics Manager to oversee the end-to-end management of raw and consumable materials, finished goods inventory, and logistics operations within our life sciences organization. This role is critical to ensuring the seamless flow of materials, reagents, and equipment across research, development, and production functions, while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Inventory Management: Oversee inventory control systems to ensure accuracy, traceability, and availability of critical materials. Maintain best practices for stock rotation, expiry tracking, and cold chain audits. Conduct cycle counts to reconcile physical inventory with system records, supporting project teams with incoming client materials.
- Logistics & Distribution: Manage inbound and outbound logistics, including international shipments of temperature-sensitive and regulated materials. Coordinate with third-party logistics providers (3PLs), couriers, and freight forwarders to ensure timely, compliant transportation routes and costs while maintaining service quality.
- Systems & Reporting: Utilize ERP systems to track inventory movements, generate reports, and maintain min-max levels for Kanban inventories and stocking locations. Monitor KPIs and dashboards to assess inventory turnover, order fulfillment, and logistics performance.
- Compliance & Quality: Ensure adherence to GMP, ISO, IVD, and other regulatory standards for audits and inspections by bodies such as MHRA and FDA. Collaborate with QA/QC teams to manage non-conformances and CAPAs related to inventory and logistics.
- Materials Management: Oversee the allocation of materials to support R&D, manufacturing, and pre-clinical activities. Work with procurement and production teams to forecast requirements and prevent shortages. Ensure proper storage, labeling, and handling of hazardous and sensitive materials according to safety and regulatory standards.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with R&D, manufacturing, procurement, and finance teams to forecast demand and align inventory with business needs. Proactively identify and implement continuous improvements for profitability, quality, and efficiency. Support new product introductions and other projects as needed.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Life Sciences, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in inventory and logistics management, preferably in a life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical environment.
- Strong knowledge of ERP systems and inventory control methodologies.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for handling biological materials, chemicals, and controlled substances.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with cold chain logistics and hazardous material shipping.
- Certification in APICS (CPIM/CSCP), Six Sigma, or similar.
- Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, etc.).
