Inventory Controller

Job Description

The Inventory Controller will be detail-oriented, analytical, and able to manage the inventory operations.

The responsibilities include maintaining inventory levels, making sound decisions about inventory movement, and monitoring inventory data.

The ideal candidate has a deep understanding of inventory management, procurement processes, and logistics.

The role of the Inventory Controller is to ensure that our business maintains sufficient stock levels to meet demand, analyze purchasing and sales patterns, and anticipate potential inventory issues.

What You’ll Do

  1. Maintain and update inventory records including updating our MRP system.
  2. Develop and implement inventory control procedures and best practices.
  3. Monitor and report on inventory levels, deliveries, and shortages.
  4. Perform regular inventory audits and cycle counts to ensure accuracy.
  5. Coordinate and manage annual physical inventory audits.
  6. Coordinate with Warehouse and Goods in staff to ensure proper storage and distribution of inventory.
  7. Coordinate with Planning and Purchasing to prevent overstocking and running out-of-stock.
  8. Process and document damaged inventory and coordinate repairs or disposal.
  9. Identify and resolve discrepancies between inventory records and physical counts.
  10. Ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations related to inventory control.
  11. Prepare detailed reports on inventory operations, stock levels, and adjustments.
  12. Evaluate new inventory to ensure it’s ready for shipment.
  13. Collaborate with other teams to ensure business goals are met.
  14. Ensure excess and obsolete stock is identified, cross-functionally assessed, and managed through either consumption, sale to the external market, or through the scrap approval process.

What You Will Bring

  1. Proven work experience as an Inventory Controller.
  2. Good understanding of supply chain procedures.
  3. Active participation in inventory audits.
  4. Ability to accurately track inventory and create reports.
  5. An analytical mind with strong attention to detail.
  6. Able to manage their own time to achieve daily targets.
  7. Flexibility within the role to cover other areas of the warehouse team.
  8. Practiced problem-solving skills.
  9. Able to work to tight deadlines.
  10. Should demonstrate the drive and desire to progress.
  11. Must be a team player who is capable of working on their own initiative.

Preferred but not required

  1. BSc degree in Business Administration, Logistics, or relevant field.
  2. Excellent knowledge of data analysis and forecasting methods.
  3. Outstanding organizational and planning skills.
  4. Educated in leadership skills ILM Level 3.
  5. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
  6. Trained in Waste of Production reduction methodology.
  7. Yellow or Green belt in Lean Manufacturing.
