Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Interventional Radiology team at New Cross Hospital. Interventional Radiology is a fast‑paced, specialist service providing minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for a wide range of patients.

The successful applicant will be committed to delivering high-quality, patient‑centred care and able to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Excellent communication and organisational skills are essential.

This role offers the opportunity to develop specialist skills within a dynamic service. Due to the nature of the work, staff are required to wear lead protective equipment for extended periods and comply with radiation safety procedures. Participation in shift work and the on‑call rota will be required.

The post holder will play an integral role within the Interventional Radiology team, supporting the delivery of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures across a variety of specialties. Responsibilities include assisting with patient preparation, monitoring and recovery, undertaking and recording clinical observations, supporting patient transfers and moving and handling activities, maintaining stock levels and equipment, and assisting the multidisciplinary team during procedures. The post holder will contribute to maintaining a clean, safe and efficient clinical environment, adhering to infection prevention and control standards, radiation safety requirements, and departmental policies, including the use of lead protective equipment. Participation in flexible working patterns and the Interventional Radiology on‑call service is required.

Interventional Radiology at New Cross Hospital is a specialist and innovative service providing a broad range of minimally invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for both elective and emergency patients. Working across multiple specialties, the service plays a key role in delivering high‑quality patient care and improving outcomes through advanced image‑guided interventions.

You will join a supportive multidisciplinary team of Consultants, Nurses, Radiographers and Healthcare Support Workers who are committed to delivering safe, effective and patient‑centred care. The department offers a varied and rewarding working environment where teamwork, adaptability and a commitment to excellence are highly valued.

As part of the team, you will contribute to a service that is continually evolving to meet the needs of patients while supporting the delivery of high‑quality care across the Trust.
