Job summary

Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust seeks a Consultant in Cardiology for interventional responsibilities at MMUH and related sites. You will perform PCI and angiography, cover urgent cases and outpatient clinics, and participate in on-call rotas.

Qualifications

• Entry on the Specialist Register in cardiology (or entry expected within 6 months from the date of interview)
• Clinical training and experience equivalent to gaining CCT in cardiology
• Ability to take independent responsibility for management of acute cardiac emergencies
• Ability to take full and independent responsibility for care and independent coronary intervention
• Higher Degree may be advantageous

Responsibilities

• Perform diagnostic angiography and coronary interventions for elective outpatients, urgent inpatients (ACS) and primary PCI for STEMI
• On-call for primary PCI and general cardiology 1 in 8 (with internal cover)
• Cover clinics (Rapid Access Chest Pain), ward rounds, administration duties and have flexible cath lab cover
• Post based primarily at MMUH with potential work across other sites to support service needs
