Job description

Do you have experience in supporting children/ young people on a one-to-one basis and looking for some flexible work?

We are looking for an intervention tutor to work directly with children and young people to help them meet the academic criteria of their peers. The role involves encouraging pupils outside of mainstream settings, primarily in and around the Northampton area - NN1, NN2, NN3, NN4, NN5, NN6, NN7.

This academic tutor role involves providing informative, engaging sessions face-to-face with children at their home or in a community-based setting (e.g., a local library).

What to expect from this role?

  • You will be planning resources around the child’s needs, focusing on developing their knowledge in core subjects such as Maths, English, and Science.
  • Resourcing engaging and creative lessons to help pupils catch up in their learning.
  • Managing and implementing different behavior strategies and coping mechanisms, as pupils may have behavioral needs that require attention.

What are we looking for in a tutor?

  • Experience working with children or young people.
  • A QTS or at least a minimum of two years of previous teaching experience.
  • A range of behavior management and coping mechanisms.
  • Able to plan and deliver engaging core and cross-curricular sessions.
  • Skills to help pupils get their education back up to speed.
  • Ability to track pupils' progress towards achieving their desired learning outcomes and provide feedback.
