We are urgently recruiting for freelance interpreters based in Plympton to work within various settings such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organizations.

We are currently recruiting for:

• Telephone Interpreters
• Translators

Please note this is a self-employed position

Job Responsibilities:

• Listening to, understanding, and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing it accurately in the target language.
• Interpreting for legal, health, and local government services.
• Checking the understanding of non-English speakers after each sentence.
• Providing conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting.
• Handling highly confidential information.
• Liaising between service users and providers.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English and at least one other language.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Age 21 or over.
• Formal qualifications such as:
• Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
• Community Interpreting
• Registration with NRPSI, CIOL, ITI is advantageous
• Degree in Translation, Interpreting, or Languages
• Other interpreting-related qualifications
• Flexible working hours.
• Work from home.
• Self-employment status.
• Ongoing support and professional development.
