We are urgently recruiting freelance interpreters to work within various settings such as the NHS, Local Authorities, Police, Probation, and other public and private organizations.

Established in 2001, Language Empire provides professional interpreting and translation services across the UK, covering hundreds of languages and dialects. If you speak one or more foreign languages and wish to engage in roles involving politics, business, healthcare, and public service, this could be the role for you!

We are currently recruiting for:

• Telephone Interpreters
• Translators

Please note this is a self-employed position.

Job Responsibilities:

• Listening to, understanding, and memorizing content in the source language, then reproducing it accurately in the target language.
• Interpreting for legal, health, and local government services.
• Checking understanding with non-English speakers after each sentence.
• Performing conference, consecutive, and public service interpreting.
• Handling highly confidential information.
• Liaising between service users and providers.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English and another language.
• Legal right to work in the UK.
• Age 21 or over.
• Formal qualifications such as:
• Diploma in Public Service Interpreting (DPSI)
• Community Interpreting
• NRPSI, CIOL, ITI registration (advantageous)
• Degree in Translation/Interpreting/Languages
• Other interpreting qualifications
• Flexible working hours.
