Job summary

The New York Times Company in London is seeking an International Payroll Specialist to manage end-to-end payroll processes for multiple countries in a hybrid London-based role. You will collaborate with HR, Global Mobility and Finance to ensure accurate, timely payroll close and compliant deductions, with oversight of Workday to Cloudpay data flows.

Qualifications

  • Extensive payroll experience, including previous experience on multi-country international payroll.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Excel and Word).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present clear information, convey ideas, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal departments, employees and external vendors through a collaborative and proactive approach.

Responsibilities

  • Be the key contact person for external payroll providers, HR and Finance Department, responsible for the monthly end to end payroll process for the assigned countries.
  • Process payroll information from Workday to Cloudpay (Integration validation and input information via template).
  • Managing new joiners and terminations.
  • Review reports and liaise with internal partners to ensure the data/all changes are accurate and complete.
  • Ensure all employees are accurately recorded in Workday.
  • Post reconciliation, provide approval to third party payroll providers.
  • Total payroll (earnings, voluntary and mandatory deductions) will be provided to Finance and Newsroom Accountants for verification to General Ledger.
  • Ensure all legal, social and pension obligations are handled in a timely and appropriate manner.
  • Respond to employee enquiries in a pro‑active and courteous manner.
  • Managing the year end processes.
  • Managing risk within your role. Escalating when appropriate.
  • Perform Adhoc reconciliation and research any discrepancies.

We are looking for an International Payroll Specialist to join our team in London where you will be responsible for the end of end payroll process and work closely with HR, Global Mobility and Finance Department. This is a hybrid position based in London and includes regular attendance in the office each week per your departmental guidance.

In this role you will be involved with developing controls and procedures to ensure that international payrolls are processed accurately and on time. You will ensure corresponding costs are properly accounted for, review and improve on controls and procedures to ensure voluntary and mandatory deductions are submitted compliantly by third party providers

Basic Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience with France, Germany, Canada and UK payrollsExperience using Workday / Cloudpay.
  • Conversational or business fluency in French or Spanish.
  • Understanding of Payroll Accounting principles.
  • Naturally curious, willing to question and learn legal, statutory and social security requirements for each country.
