International Operations Agent

AIT is a global freight forwarding and logistics company headquartered in Chicago. Join us to coordinate daily import and export of international freight-forwarding shipments between the United Kingdom and global destinations.

Overview

You will be responsible for the effective coordination, progress monitoring, and management of all communication related to the daily import and export of international freight-forwarding shipments into and out of the United Kingdom. You will oversee shipment handling across all transportation modes—air, ocean, and surface—ensuring activities comply with customer requirements and contractual agreements.

Responsibilities

• Partner customers to advise, determine and qualify their shipping requirements
• Obtain details (regulations, certificates, documentation) necessary for full and accurate shipment quotations
• Provide a "best in service" approach to ensure the customer’s request is fulfilled and satisfied
• Set shipping schedules and communicate with customers, deliverers, and ports to verify loading, departures, and arrivals in a timely manner
• Coordinate the day-to-day import and/or export of products, including reviewing orders and documents
• Coordinate recovery/delivery schedules with cartage agents and international partners
• Ensure all customers’ SOP instructions are adhered to and AIT KPIs/tasks and guidelines are followed and met
• Ensure all shipments are properly billed within company guidelines and timelines
• Process and comply with all requirements listed by regulatory agencies
• Network with departments to ensure files are billed and posted before the end of month
• Continue learning through required compliance training and acquisition of software and/or regulatory certifications
• Assist with the day-to-day training of new team members and cross-skilling where applicable with existing teammates

Qualifications

• 0–2 years applied on the job and industry experience
• CargoWise software experience a plus
• Customer focus: knowledge of customer business needs and proactive addressing of concerns
• Professional level oral and written English language skills
• Problem solving: ability to identify problems of varying complexity and find effective solutions, considering multiple sides
• Attention to detail: ensure own work is complete and accurate; monitor quality of work and verify information
