Job description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly organised and detail-focused individual to join our Audit Team as a Stock Auditor.

The Role

This is a predominantly field-based role requiring regular travel across our pub estate, carrying out stocktakes, cash audits, and compliance checks within both wet-led and food-led pubs. The role plays an important part in supporting operational standards, protecting company assets, and helping drive profitability across the business.

You will work closely with pub management teams, providing accurate stock and cash auditing while identifying areas for improvement and supporting compliance with company procedures. Alongside completing audits, you will produce clear reports, highlight risks or discrepancies, and help promote strong operational controls throughout the estate.

You will be responsible for managing your own patch of pubs, building strong working relationships with managers and supporting consistent standards across your area. Alongside your scheduled audits and stocktakes, you may also be involved in additional audit projects, investigations, compliance reviews, and business improvement initiatives as required.

The successful candidate will have a keen eye for detail, strong organisational skills, and the confidence to build positive working relationships across pubs and departments. Previous stocktaking, auditing, hospitality, or retail management experience would be advantageous, although full training will be provided.

This role would particularly suit someone currently working as a Deputy Manager, Assistant Manager, Team Leader, or within a stock, compliance, or operational role in hospitality who is looking to develop their career in auditing and business operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Carry out scheduled stocktakes and financial audits across the pub estate in line with company procedures.
  • Accurately count and reconcile wet, food, and retail stock holdings.
  • Complete cash and banking compliance audits, ensuring company procedures are being consistently followed.
  • Identify discrepancies, stock variances, and potential risks, escalating concerns where appropriate.
  • Produce clear, accurate, and timely audit reports to company standards.
  • Build positive working relationships with pub managers and teams to support operational improvements and compliance.
  • Support loss prevention initiatives through accurate auditing and procedural checks.
  • Carry out topic audits and compliance reviews as required by the business.
  • Provide practical guidance and support to pubs on stock control and audit-related queries.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive financial and operational information.
  • Ensure all audits are completed efficiently, accurately, and within agreed timescales.
The Successful Candidate
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships at all levels.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and able to manage multiple priorities independently.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Comfortable working in a field-based role with regular travel across the pub estate.
  • Confident using Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop.
  • Able to work both independently and as part of a small, supportive team.
  • Previous experience within hospitality, stocktaking, auditing, retail, or cash handling would be advantageous.
  • Full clean UK driving licence essential.
