Job summary

Grant & Stone Building Supplies in Reading seeks an Internal Sales Assistant to support customers, process orders, prepare quotations and help the branch deliver a smooth service. The role welcomes candidates with customer service or sales support from any sector and values willingness to learn.

Qualifications

• Experience in a customer service, sales, administration, builders' merchant or construction-related environment
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills
• A confident and professional telephone manner
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail
• A positive, team-oriented approach
• Confidence using computer systems and handling customer enquiries
• A willingness to learn new skills and develop product knowledge
• Builders' merchant or construction product knowledge (Desirable)
• Previous experience in an internal sales or trade counter role (Desirable)

Responsibilities

• Building positive relationships with customers in person, over the phone and via email
• Processing customer orders, quotations, enquiries and returns accurately and efficiently
• Providing helpful advice on products, pricing, availability and delivery options
• Following up quotations and identifying opportunities to support customer needs
• Supporting account managers, branch colleagues and the wider sales team
• Maintaining accurate customer records and helping with general branch administration
• Contributing to excellent customer service and helping the branch achieve its objectives

Are you passionate about delivering great customer service and enjoy a role where no two days are the same?

We're looking for an Internal Sales Assistant to join our friendly and successful team in Reading. This customer-focused role is all about supporting customers, processing orders, preparing quotations and helping the branch deliver a smooth and professional service every day.

Whether you already have experience within a builders’ merchant environment or bring strong customer service and sales support skills from another sector, we'd love to hear from you.

What You'll Be Doing

Internal Sales & Customer Service

• Building positive relationships with customers in person, over the phone and via email
• Processing customer orders, quotations, enquiries and returns accurately and efficiently

Working Hours

Week 1

• Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:15pm

Week 2

• Monday to Friday: 7:30am – 5:15pm
• Saturday: 8:00am – 12:00pm
