Job summary

Yeo Valley Production Ltd in Newton Abbot is seeking a Technical Operator for nights (4 nights on, 4 nights off) from 18:00 to 06:00. You will apply your operational and mechanical skills to support a busy production line and help the team meet daily KPIs while optimising machine performance and material use.

You will perform routine checks, support food safety and quality controls, lead good manufacturing practices, and work with engineering to identify root causes of faults.

Qualifications

• Experience as a machine operator in a production environment.
• Able to undertake manual tasks with safety awareness.
• Strong attention to detail and quality standards.
• Good communication within a team.

Responsibilities

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems.
• Govern the quality management system to ensure food safety controls and product quality.
• Adhere to GMP and hygiene standards; lead clean-as-you-go practices.
• Operate and optimise equipment to meet production demands.
• Perform advanced fault finding and assist with root-cause analysis with engineering when needed.
• Ensure proper cleaning and maintenance of equipment.
• Collaborate with the team and provide effective handovers.

We are looking for a Technical Operator to join our Nights team at Newton Abbot. This role will be 4 nights on 4 nights off working 18:00 to 6:00.

As the Technical Operator you will be utilising your operationaland mechanical skills and knowledge, you will be the go-to person for all in the team that need support with complex operational processes, optimising complexmachines or identifying root cause of underlying problems. Through the undertaking of maintenance tasks, validation checks andoptimisation of the machines, you will ensure the team are able to meet their daily Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) with optimal utilisation of ourassets and raw materials.

Your responsibilities:

• Undertake routine checks to validate and maintain equipment safety control systems to maintain statutory compliance. Escalate any food safety breach or quality issue and ensure that any product below our standards is identified and held and the issues are escalated appropriately, resolved and released.
• Active involvement, commitment and governance of the quality management system, making sure all relevant controls and procedures are completed effectively to validate food safety controls and the products we make exceed customer and consumer expectations.
• Understands, adheres and leads good manufacturing practices and company standards of hygiene, PPE, and dress code. Role models a 'Clean as You Go' approach, leading workplace organisation and visual management standards with the team.
• Effective operation and optimisation of equipment and priorities to meet the production demand and delivery of the highest quality of products.
• Undertake advanced/complex fault finding, decision making and rectification on equipment and lead the identification of root cause, escalating to engineering when required.
• Ensuring all equipment is properly cared for by the completion of effective cleaning and maintenance tasks.
• Work across the team and effective handovers to understand common challenges and opportunities seeking to identify where investigations may help most.
• Energises the team and demonstrates a consistently enthusiastic approach, taking action quickly and encouraging others to do the same.
