Job summary

Universal Music Group UK is seeking an IBM i-series Application Engineer to develop and support our royalty application, improving UI, performance, and integrations with internal systems for a global user base.

You will report to the Technical Product Owner and contribute to delivering the roadmap for the core royalty calculation platform used across 45+ countries, ensuring reliability and scalable solutions.

Qualifications

• Must have proven track record as an IBM i-series developer.
• Experience with WebSmart, JQuery & AJAX.
• Knowledge of IBM i ACS/Navigator for i is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support the royalty application on IBM i.

With a global footprint, the Universal Music Group Royalty and Copyright Product Team designs, develops, delivers and maintains a number of technical solutions to calculate royalty accountings in a timely and accurate manner to our valued artists. We’re also providing them with an extent and detailed visibility of these earning from various sources of digital incomes.

The team continuously collaborates with our international business teams to deliver innovative solutions as well as supporting best practices and new processes for a better royalty flow.

The Role

The primary purpose of the application engineer will be developing and supporting this royalty application. This will include user interface improvements, performance enhancements, integrations with other internal systems and operational support.

The Application engineer will report to the Technical Product Owner who is responsible for delivering the roadmap and associated projects aimed at enhancing and optimising one of UMG core royalty calculation system with a user base across over more than 45 countries.

The Responsibilities

Be Technical

• Thorough and current knowledge of the IBMi and its operating system.
• HTML, Javascript, CSS
• RPGLE, SQLRPGLE, SQL, CLLE, on an IBMi
• Knowledge of Turnover or a similar change management tool

Be Collaborative

• Build positive relationships with business stakeholders and rest of the development teams
• Participate in regular meetings with stakeholders to review requirements and update on development in progress and address concerns
• Proven ability to communicate technical information to technical and non-technical audiences
• Produce support documentation for planned implementation
• Ability to work in a team as well as being able to work on own initiative where necessary
• Attention to detail and accuracy
• Ensure tasks are completed within agreed timescales

• Knowledge of EBCDIC, ASCII, UNICODE & HEX

Nice to have

• Knowledge of Synon 2E
• Music industry business knowledge and specifically Royalties and Copyright processes.
• JIRA experience
