Autodesk, Inc. in Birmingham is seeking an undergraduate Intern Software Engineer to start Summer 2027. You’ll join an Agile Scrum team working on Fusion 360 and be mentored by senior developers.

You’ll gain hands-on experience in C++ toolpaths, TypeScript web components, and new AI tools, while learning commercial development processes and using GitHub and Jenkins.

Qualifications

• Minimum 120 UCAS points.
• Programming experience in a C-style language (eg. C/C++, Java, C#) desirable.

Responsibilities

• Work on real commercial development projects mentored by Autodesk developers.
• Gain experience in large team software development.
• Learn and apply Agile/Scrum practices and CI/CD workflows.
• Contribute to toolpath algorithms, web components, and AI tools.
• Engage with source control (GitHub) and CI platforms (Jenkins).

Summer Interns will get the opportunity to work in an Agile Scrum team, made up of 5-8 experienced software engineers, as part of a larger software development team working on Fusion 360 and reporting to our Engineering Director. The software we develop is both challenging and rewarding - from writing toolpath algorithms in C++ to developing web components in TypeScript or creating new AI tools to delight our customers - so we will ensure you get the training and support to help you grow and develop your skills during your time with us.
