Job description

As an Intermediate Tax Accountant, you will be responsible for supporting the team with various tax-related tasks. This junior-mid-level position offers an opportunity to develop your skills in tax preparation, compliance, and planning, working under the guidance of senior tax professionals. Your role is critical in ensuring our clients' tax obligations are met accurately and efficiently.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Tax Preparation:
    Assist in the preparation of individual, corporate, and partnership tax returns.
    Gather necessary financial information from clients to ensure accurate reporting.
    Calculate tax liabilities and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
  2. Tax Research:
    Stay updated on changes in tax laws and regulations.
    Conduct research to address client-specific tax issues and provide recommendations.
    Assist in identifying tax-saving opportunities for clients.
  3. Client Support:
    Build and maintain positive relationships with clients.
    Respond to client inquiries and provide tax-related assistance.
    Explain tax strategies and implications in a clear and understandable manner.
  4. Tax Compliance:
    Ensure that tax returns are filed accurately and on time.
    Assist in resolving tax notices or issues from tax authorities.
    Monitor filing deadlines and extensions.
    Analyse financial data to identify tax deductions, credits, and exemptions.
    Prepare tax projections and estimates for clients.
    Assist in tax planning strategies to minimise tax liabilities.

QUALIFICATIONS AND KNOWLEDGE:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
  • 2-5 years of public accounting experience.
  • Strong understanding of current taxation legislation and accounting standards.
  • Knowledge of tax software and tools (e.g., MYOB, XERO).
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
