Job summary

Davies Group in Liverpool is seeking an Intermediate / Multi Track File Handler to manage a varied caseload of EL and PL claims. You will oversee cases from pre-litigation through to conclusion, with opportunities to mentor junior team members.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience handling EL/PL Intermediate or Multi Track claims.
  • Experience supervising or developing colleagues in a legal environment.
  • Strong mentoring and coaching skills with ability to develop team members.
  • Excellent verbal, written and listening communication skills.
  • Strong negotiation skills with ability to influence outcomes.
  • Ability to prepare clear, concise, commercially focused reports.
  • Proficient IT skills including MS Office and case management tools.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a mixed caseload of EL and PL claims, predominantly Intermediate/Multi Track valued between £25,000 and £100,000.
  • Assess liability, causation and quantum, providing clear, commercial advice to clients.
  • Supervise and mentor junior team members in line with competency frameworks.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve favourable outcomes.
  • Utilise the Case Management System to progress files from instruction to conclusion.
  • Draft Defences, witness statements and other pleadings as required.
  • Attend hearings, trials, or conferences, in person or remotely.
  • Meet individual and team targets for chargeable hours, WIP, and MI capture.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure delivery of high-quality legal services.
  • Maintain SRA Code of Conduct and Davies values.

Description

Keoghs' Retail Team is seeking to recruit an Intermediate / Multi Track File Handler to manage a caseload of non-delegated Intermediate / Multi Track Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims.

This varied and rewarding role offers an excellent opportunity to join Keoghs' thriving Corporate Sector Risk Practice, working with a range of high-profile retail clients. The successful candidate will predominantly handle a litigated caseload, while also managing a number of cases from the pre-litigation stage through to conclusion.

The role provides exposure to a diverse range of claims and excellent opportunities for professional development within a highly regarded and collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage a mixed caseload of Employers' Liability (EL) and Public Liability (PL) claims, predominantly Intermediate / Multi Track typically valued between £25,000 and £100,000.
  • Assess liability, causation, and quantum, providing clear and commercially focused advice to clients.
  • Support the development of junior team members through supervision, mentoring, and coaching in line with Keoghs' Competency Frameworks, while contributing to financial authority audits.
  • Develop and implement effective case strategies to achieve the best possible outcomes, identifying areas requiring further investigation and evidence gathering.
  • Utilise the firm's Case Management System effectively to progress files efficiently from instruction through to conclusion.
  • Draft legal documentation, including Defences, witness statements, and other pleadings as required.
  • Attend court hearings, trials, settlement conferences, and other proceedings, either in person or remotely, as required.
  • Achieve individual and team performance targets, including chargeable hours, work in progress (WIP), and the accurate capture of client management information (MI).
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the wider business to ensure the seamless delivery of high-quality legal services to clients.
  • Maintain compliance with the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) Code of Conduct and uphold the Keoghs Values in all aspects of the role.
