Job Description:

The Position

As an intermediate, you will be a key part of the team, client-facing, delivering engineering designs for buildings from concept level to completion, achieving outstanding results. Once you become a part of our team, you will have the autonomy and responsibility for leading the mechanical design on interesting and challenging projects, coordinating with both the Client and external design teams. Their organizational structure and friendly team will ensure that you are provided with support from partners, graduates, and your peers.

Day to day will include:

  • Developing and designing low-energy, sustainable mechanical systems
  • Leading on building physics analysis for your projects
  • Undertaking the calculations which form the basis of your design
  • Producing design drawings and participating in the preparation of reports and specifications
  • Engaging with other specialists to integrate and coordinate their systems into your design
  • Monitoring progress on site, taking a leading role during commissioning and handover
  • Supervising and mentoring graduate and assistant engineers
  • Developing relationships with architects and clients to help grow the business.

About you

The ideal candidate will have the following skills and qualifications:

  • CEng – Chartered member of (or working towards) a professional institution. They offer dedicated mentorship for those working towards CEng status.
  • Ideally 4+ years working in a Mechanical Building Services role
  • BEng/MEng degree in Mechanical Engineering or relevant subject or an equivalent technical qualification.
  • Knowledge and experience in working on sustainable and low-carbon projects
  • Fervent interest in responding to the climate emergency
  • Competent user of design software such as Autocad and Revit
  • Non-essential but beneficial experience using design software such as IES, PHPP and SAP
  • Ability to work well within a team, both internally and externally
  • Be motivated, practically minded, independent, and enthusiastic.
