Intermediate Mechanical Engineer
We have a fantastic opportunity for an Intermediate Mechanical Engineer to join our growing team at their new Manchester office, right in the heart of the city. This is an exciting time to get involved – you’ll be joining a thriving team with the support and resources of a well-established consultancy that has a strong presence. The Manchester office is in its early stages, which means you’ll have real influence and visibility from day one.
Key Responsibilities
- Delivering mechanical design across a wide variety of projects, focusing on the commercial sector, alongside education, healthcare, and residential schemes.
- Managing your own workload, liaising directly with clients and project teams, and contributing to technical excellence in the office.
- Supporting senior engineers on project delivery and coordination.
- Producing mechanical engineering designs, drawings, calculations, and specifications.
- Collaborating with other disciplines and team members across regional offices.
- Attending design meetings and communicating with clients, contractors, and architects.
- Ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Developing understanding of sustainable design and low-carbon strategies.
- Supporting and mentoring junior engineers or apprentices where appropriate.
Experience & Qualifications
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or similar).
- Ideally working towards Chartership (CIBSE or IMechE).
- 3–5 years’ relevant experience in building services design.
- Proficient in software such as Hevacomp, IES, AutoCAD, Revit, and the Microsoft suite.
- Knowledgeable in current UK regulations, CIBSE guidelines, and British Standards.
- Confident communicator, proactive, and collaborative team player.
- Motivated to develop professionally and take ownership of work.
