Overview

Role: Intermediate Mechanical Engineer

Location: Essex

Salary: Up to £40k

We are a well-established Building Services Consultancy with decades of experience delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical engineering design solutions across sectors including education, healthcare, laboratories, offices, heritage buildings, and commercial developments. Our reputation is built on technical excellence, client focus, and sustainable, value-for-money engineering.

The Role
  • Assist in the design and specification of mechanical building services including heating, ventilation, air conditioning, public health systems, and sustainable technologies.
  • Prepare design calculations, reports, drawings, and specifications.
  • Support project management activities and attend client/contractor meetings.
  • Undertake surveys, feasibility studies, and condition reports.
  • Work closely with senior engineers and Associate Directors to deliver projects from concept to completion.
  • Contribute to energy efficiency assessments, low carbon design solutions, and compliance with Building Regulations.
About You
  • We are looking for someone with:
  • A degree (or equivalent qualification) in Mechanical/Building Services Engineering.
  • 2-5 years' experience in a building services consultancy or similar environment.
  • Good knowledge of mechanical design software (e.g. Hevacomp, IES, or similar) and AutoCAD/Revit.
  • Strong technical understanding of UK building services standards and regulations.
  • An interest in sustainability and low-carbon design.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Working towards (or already holding) professional membership with CIBSE/IMechE.
