We are seeking an Intermediate Full Stack Kotlin Developer to join our Hippo Herd and work across strategy, design, and technology to solve complex problems and create lasting value.

You will work in a multi-disciplinary team, delivering bespoke digital services that empower clients to understand and maximise their data and digital services.

Intermediate Full Stack Kotlin Developer

As an Intermediate Full Stack Kotlin Developer, you will play an important role in making Hippo the best Consultancy out there. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team combining data, design, product, delivery, analysis and engineering to deliver bespoke digital services that make a positive and meaningful impact on organisations and society. You will act as an Intermediate Consultant to deliver Full Stack Kotlin Development services to our clients. Intermediate Full Stack Kotlin Developers are skilled practitioners who contribute to the development of user-centred software, working within agile squads to deliver high-quality code and support the wider engineering community.

Our solutions empower our customers to build and support secure, scalable, and well-engineered systems beyond traditional boundaries that allow our customers to understand and get the most from their data and digital services. The Intermediate Full Stack Kotlin Developer will be a key player and implementer in this.

Your Role in a Nutshell

• - Contribute to the production of user-centred software based on business requirements and following best practice.
• - Work collaboratively with colleagues and stakeholders to explore, design, and deliver solutions to client problems.
• - Support the design and management of software development and deployment pipelines.
• - Communicate and present prototypes, solutions, and progress to internal and external stakeholders in a clear, concise manner.
• - Participate in the engineering community and support peers through knowledge sharing.

About the Candidate:

• - Experience in Koltin the full software development lifecycle delivering user-centred digital solutions.
• - Proven ability to contribute to the delivery of high-quality, robust and scalable solutions.
• - Experience building back-end services using Spring Boot and the wider Spring Framework (Spring MVC, Spring Security, REST APIs).
• - Familiarity with Microservices design and RESTful API services.
• - Knowledge of public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP) and DevOps practices, including containerisation (Docker).
• - Experience with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins or Azure DevOps.
• - Previous experience of working on GOV/NHS projects or in a consultancy environment.
• - Familiarity with front-end technologies like Angular, React and TypeScript.

Hippo Locations

We are headquartered in Leeds and have offices across the UK in Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Bristol. We're on the lookout for top talent nationwide but you need to be located within reasonable travelling distance from one of our offices. Given the dynamic nature of a consulting business, you may be required to work on-site at a Hippo office or at an in/out of town client location for a number of days per week (client dependent) and therefore candidates will need to be open/flexible to travel and working on one of those sites at least 2 days per week. We offer a generous relocation support package of up to £8,000 (please ask for terms and conditions) to help make your move a smooth one.
