Overview:

Are you ready to take your career to the next level? This exciting role is perfect for a driven professional looking to make a real impact. Our client is seeking an Intermediate Fire Engineer to lead key aspects of a dynamic, growing team within an innovative specialist division, part of a multi-disciplinary professional services firm serving the public housing sector.

If you have at least five years post-qualification experience, this could be the thrilling opportunity you've been waiting for.

This hybrid role offers a mix of on-site and in-house responsibilities, where you'll be pivotal in delivering thorough Fire Risk Assessments, including visual and fully intrusive inspections. Equally important is your ability to engage confidently with clients, such as Local Authorities and Housing Associations, providing expert advice on fire safety compliance and regulatory standards.

Duties

Work with and lead aspects of a growing team, reporting directly to the Senior Fire Engineer.

General

  • Comply with, or improve upon, Airey Miller’s Key Performance Indicators.
  • Work with and develop a Quality Management System. Report regularly on project status and update Fee Projections.
  • Assist the Director in Business Development by cultivating new and existing clients to promote our Building Surveying services.

Experience

  • Ideally 5-10 years minimum experience in fire engineering or related fields.

External Wall Risk Assessments

  • Conduct compartmentation surveys.
  • Participate in large and small refurbishment and re-cladding projects.

Skills, Knowledge, Understanding and Learning

  • Ability to liaise closely with clients, contractors, developers, clerk of works, and other stakeholders.
  • Experience in undertaking risk assessments in line with current legislation.
  • Provide pragmatic, cost-effective solutions to mitigate fire risks.
  • Assist in the growth and development of a small team, demonstrating leadership skills.
  • Help clients RAG assess their stock to understand liabilities.
  • Review fire safety information for buildings and advise on its adequacy.
  • Conduct internal and external Fire Risk Assessments according to industry guidance and prepare detailed reports.
  • Collaborate with project teams to produce cost-effective remedial solutions.

Remedial Works

  • Assist in compiling Emergency Reports (ERs).
  • Peer review contractor proposals.
  • Liaise with clerks of works and contractors to ensure compliance during works.
  • Attend site progress meetings as required.
