Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer

Location: Wigan
Salary: 31,000 – 40,000 per annum + Benefits

About the Role

A well–established Building Services consultancy located in Wigan is looking for an Intermediate Electrical Design Engineer to bolster its dedicated MEP team. With a diverse portfolio spanning commercial, residential, healthcare, and industrial projects, this role offers significant exposure to the full cycle of electrical design work. You will have the opportunity to advance your technical expertise while working alongside experienced professionals in a supportive and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop Electrical Designs: Create detailed electrical layouts, specifications, and control schematics in accordance with project requirements.
• Collaborate on Projects: Work closely with senior engineers and multi–disciplinary teams to deliver cohesive and innovative building services solutions.
• Client & Site Engagement: Participate in client briefings, attend site inspections, and contribute to progress meetings to ensure designs meet client expectations.
• Documentation & Compliance: Prepare and maintain all technical documentation, ensuring design work complies with relevant standards and RIBA stages.
• Project Contribution: Take responsibility for designated tasks and small projects, with the opportunity for further growth as you build your experience.

Essential Requirements

• Experience: Minimum 3 years' experience in electrical building services design within the UK.
• Qualification: HNC/HND in Electrical or Building Services Engineering, or actively working towards a degree.
• Software Proficiency: Hands–on experience with AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant electrical design tools; knowledge of Amtech or lighting design software is a plus.
• Team Player: Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Practical Basis: Must hold a full UK driving licence and have access to a car.
• Working Pattern: Role requires regular attendance at the Wigan office (Monday to Friday).
