Intermediate Design Engineer

About The Role

As part of the Engineering Design team, you will be involved in producing a broad range of conceptual to fully detailed designs covering areas such as District and Communal Heating Systems, Energy Centres, Trigeneration Solutions, and Heat Pumps. The role involves working on projects at various stages and locations, utilizing different technologies, including initial conceptual work, site investigations, surveys, client meetings, project submissions, and presentations.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supporting the design of distributed energy schemes, energy centres, district heating networks, and other major projects.
2. Interpreting, appraising, and documenting client requirements.
3. Carrying out calculations, equipment selection, and process operation.
4. Producing schematics and detailed drawings.
5. Maintaining awareness of cost implications during the design process.
6. Addressing design issues and minimizing their impact.
7. Ensuring compliance with CDM requirements and internal processes.
8. Conducting HAZOP studies and Risk Assessments.
9. Assisting in specifying mechanical aspects for tendering works.

What You Will Need

1. Educated to at least HNC/HND level in Mechanical, Building Services, or a similar Engineering discipline.
2. Preferably educated to Degree level.
3. Design experience in fields such as Building Services, CHP, Boilers/Heating, HVAC, Steam, Air Handling, Cooling, Renewable Energy (e.g., Solar or Heat Pumps), or similar.
4. Competent in AutoCAD.
5. Full UK manual driving license.
