About the Role

My client is seeking an experienced Interim Strategic Finance Manager to lead the creation of a Strategic Operational Baseline Forecast (SOBF) - a financial framework combining cost and revenue projections to determine the long-term operating model for a major UK high-speed rail service.

This role will be central to assessing the impact of future service changes on the P&L, producing forecasts through to 2050, and establishing a robust financial baseline to support strategic proposals. You will work closely with senior finance leadership, contributing to critical decision-making within a tight delivery timeframe.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of the SOBF, integrating operational, cost, and revenue data into a comprehensive financial model.
  • Assess long-term financial impacts of high-speed rail services, with forecasting horizons up to 2050.
  • Provide clear financial insights and scenario testing to guide strategic decisions.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across finance, operations, and strategy functions.
  • Ensure delivery to the January project deadline, managing priorities and timelines effectively.
