About Us

At the West London Waste Authority, we’re reimagining how waste is managed to support a circular economy and a cleaner, greener future for West London. Our Household Reuse and Recycling Centres (HRRCs) are key to delivering exceptional environmental services to our communities.

We are currently seeking an experienced Interim Site Supervisor to provide operational leadership and cover at our busy Abbey Road Reuse and Recycling Centre during a period of transition. This is a 6-month fixed-term post, offering a great opportunity to support frontline services while contributing to environmental outcomes.

Role Overview

You will work alongside an existing Site Supervisor to manage a 7-day site operation, each covering 5 days per week on a rota basis. Together, you will ensure the site runs smoothly, safely, and in line with regulatory and customer service standards.

Reporting to the Senior Site Manager, you’ll lead a team of up to 15 operational staff and help maintain safe, effective, and high-quality service delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Share responsibility for the day-to-day operations of the site as part of a supervisory team
  • Lead and support staff on your shift, ensuring effective rota coverage and smooth operations
  • Maintain site safety, cleanliness, and customer satisfaction
  • Oversee incident management, risk assessments, and compliance with all H&S and environmental standards
  • Handle staff queries, escalate issues as needed, and liaise with contractors and service partners
  • Monitor and report on site performance, contributing to service improvements
  • Provide continuity and resilience in site leadership during the interim period

Who We're Looking For

A confident, capable leader with a background in operational supervision—ideally in waste, environmental services, or a related field. You’re ready to step into a collaborative supervisory model, providing hands-on support to staff and customers while ensuring high standards are consistently met.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Supervisory experience in a waste or operational site environment
  • Sound knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations
  • Strong people management and communication skills
  • Able to work effectively as part of a leadership rota covering a 7-day operation
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Outlook)
  • Experience with rota planning, contractor coordination, and compliance processes

Desirable Qualifications

  • COTC Level 4 (or willingness to achieve within 6 months)
  • IOSH or NEBOSH Health & Safety qualification
  • Understanding of reuse/recycling initiatives and circular economy principles

Why Join Us?

This is a great opportunity to contribute to a critical environmental service in a collaborative and supportive team. You’ll play an active role in maintaining high standards during a key transition period while developing your leadership skills in a busy operational environment.
