Interim Shipping Manager – Chemicals & DG Freight | Immediate Start
Location: West Yorkshire
Sector: Chemical Distribution / International Logistics
Contract: Interim – 6 months

Our client is a leading international distributor of speciality chemicals. They are urgently seeking an experienced Interim Shipping Manager to oversee and stabilise their import/export operations, with a particular focus on dangerous goods (DG) compliance, cost-effective freight management, and international documentation.

Key Priorities:

  • Ensure smooth and compliant shipping of chemicals across global markets.
  • Manage and optimise inbound and outbound freight (air/sea/road), including DG logistics.
  • Oversee documentation including Letters of Credit, pro forma invoices, customs and regulatory paperwork.
  • Work with freight partners to secure competitive rates and improve service levels.
  • Advise internal teams on shipping best practices and urgent compliance issues.
  • Provide stability and continuity during a period of operational transition.

You’ll Need:

  • Strong experience in international shipping/logistics—especially within chemicals or regulated goods.
  • Knowledge of DG transport regulations (air & sea).
  • Proven track record negotiating with freight forwarders and handling global documentation.
  • Immediate availability or short notice period.
