Job summary

TSB in Edinburgh is seeking a Senior Operations Analyst to monitor core services and lead a team within IT Operations on a 12-month fixed-term contract. The role focuses on improving service observability and minimising business impact through proactive resolution of incidents.

Ideal candidates bring strong analytical skills, experience across applications, infrastructure and core banking services, plus familiarity with ITIL processes and stakeholder liaison.

Qualifications

• Experience with monitoring application services, microservices, infrastructure, middleware, networking and mainframe batch.
• Strong problem-solving abilities to address incidents and service situations of varying complexity.
• Effective communication with stakeholders and coordination of recovery teams.
• Understanding of ITIL service operations, including incident and problem management (beneficial).
• Knowledge of IT operations across network, server and application layers (beneficial).
• Experience with change management to minimise incident recurrence (beneficial).
• Exposure to banking services such as digital banking and payments (beneficial).

Responsibilities

• Monitor the bank's core business services using industry-leading toolsets and develop them to maximise observability.
• Triage and respond to anomalies to ensure applications, systems, infrastructure and services remain available.
• Be part of a dedicated IT Operations team and lead analysts in incident response and recovery.
• Engage with IT and business stakeholders and IT suppliers to coordinate technical recovery efforts.

The role involves monitoring the bank's core business services through industry leading toolsets and the ongoing development of these to ensure that service observability is maximised and continually improved. Inquisitive, problem-solving skills are required as the role involves the triage and reaction to anomalies within our technology to ensure applications, systems, infrastructure & services remain available to our customers and colleagues. You will be a part of a dedicated team of IT Operations Analysts & Snr Analysts who minimise the impact of incidents on business operations and maintain high service availability and performance standards in line with the bank's objectives.

The role involves engagement at all levels within TSB, both IT and business, as well as with the bank's IT suppliers so excellent communications & relationship management skills are key. The role includes responsibility of decision making within the IT Operations team, acting as lead support and directing a team of analysts.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• Ideally experience with various technology monitoring including application services, microservices, infrastructure, middleware, networking & mainframe batch.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities to address incidents and service situations of varying complexity.
• Effective communication skills to liaise with stakeholders and coordinate technical recovery teams.
• Proficiency in ITIL service operation processes, particularly operations, incident and problem management (but not essential).
• Understanding of IT operations and infrastructure, including network, server, and application layers (beneficial).
• Knowledge of change management processes to minimise the risk of incident recurrence (beneficial).
• Previous technical exposure to banking related services (e.g. digital banking, ATM, Mainframe, distributed applications, Citrix and payments) (beneficial).
