Job summary

Reaseheath College and University Centre is seeking an Interim Progress Coach to support a caseload of students, delivering high‑quality weekly group tutorials and 1‑to‑1 conversations to help them progress in their studies and build key skills.

You will signpost to specialist College services, track learner progress and attendance with the attendance impact team, and work with colleagues to ensure a consistent learner experience and strong retention and achievement outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (or willingness to work towards one).
  • Some experience of working directly with students/young people.
  • Some experience and/or knowledge of employability skills.
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with students on a 1:1 and group basis.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct one-to-one meetings with individual students to provide dedicated support.
  • Monitor student progress, retention, attendance and achievement rates.
  • Collaborate with College staff to standardise the learner experience.
  • Provide additional academic coaching including study skills development as required.
  • Complete all relevant administration for each student in a timely manner.

Job Title: Interim Progress Coach

Status: Fixed Term, 37 hours per week

Closing Date: Midnight, Thursday 3rd September 2026

About the role

As a Progress Coach, you will provide dedicated support to a caseload of students, to ensure they all make effective progress with their studies and develop the skills they need to be successful in their future lives. This is achieved through preparing and delivering high quality weekly group tutorial sessions as well as holding 1-1 tutorial conversations supporting students to break down barriers to learning.

You will also signpost students to access the right support from our specialist College services to enable them to overcome any barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.

You will play a key role in helping the College to achieve outstanding levels of student retention and achievement by tracking and monitoring learner progress and attendance in conjunction with our new attendance impact officers.

Key responsibilities:

  • Conduct one-to-one meetings with individual students to provide individual support.
  • Monitor student progress, retention, attendance and achievement rates.
  • Work closely with other staff across the College, involved in the learner journey to ensure standardisation of the student experience.
  • Provide additional academic coaching including study skills development as required
  • Ensure all appropriate administration is completed in a timely manner in relation to each student

The successful candidate will have:

  • Recognised Teaching Qualification (or be willing to work towards one).
  • Some experience of working directly with students/young people
  • Some experience and/or knowledge of employability skills#
  • Ability to develop effective relationships with students on a 1:1 and group basis.

As a College, we actively encourage applications from industry professionals without a teaching qualification, as well as those from qualified teachers. Reaseheath offers a full CPD programme with access to funded qualifications alongside hands on support whilst completing Further Education Training. Industry professionals joining the College in an academic role, will complete their Further Education Training whilst in post.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must also have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this. In addition, online checks will be carried out during the recruitment process.
