Job summary

Reaseheath College and University Centre is a forward-thinking provider delivering inclusive education across Further Education and Apprenticeships. We are seeking an Inclusive Learning Practitioner to join our Learning Skills Centre, delivering targeted support to learners with varying needs on a large land-based campus near Nantwich.

The successful candidate will work with curriculum staff, monitor progress, and help learners develop study skills and independence while adhering to SEND

Qualifications

  • Experience of working with young people in education/care settings.
  • Knowledge of SEND Code of Practice and impact of learning difficulties on learning.
  • Enthusiasm and drive for outstanding service delivery to support students with SEND.

Responsibilities

  • Work with curriculum staff to provide learning support to individuals and small groups.
  • Monitor student progression and achievement through in-class support and EHCP outcomes.
  • Ensure education provision and supporting actions conform to SEND Code of Practice.
  • Regularly evidence support provision and EHCP outcome progression.
  • Support students to develop study skills and career-ready behaviours.
  • Provide cross-curriculum support across campus including Maths and English.

Education

Level 3 or equivalent qualification (Teaching/learning)
Level 2 Maths and English Grade 4 (GCSE C) or equivalent

Job Title: Inclusive Learning Practitioner – (Learning Support Assistant)

Status: Permanent, Full Time, 35 hours per week, Term Time Only

Overview

Reaseheath College is a forward thinking and dynamic College providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students a year. The College prides itself on its inclusive approach to student support, assisting an increasing number of learners with a range of learning difficulties and disabilities to access Further Education and Apprenticeships. The Learning Skills Centre (LSC) team provides essential support to learners, working in partnership with curriculum staff to support students to realise their potential.

About the role

Due to expansion within our Learning Skills Centre, we have multiple vacancies for Inclusive Learning Practitioner positions which include both full time and part-time positions. The College is looking for dynamic people who have experience of successfully delivering support and guidance to young people and vulnerable adults to join its LSC team.

Key responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with curriculum staff to provide dynamic learning support strategies to individuals and small groups in accordance with their support/ EHC plan.
  • Monitor student progression and achievement via in class support provision
  • Ensure education provision and associated support conform to the SEND Code of Practice
  • Regularly evidence support provision including EHCP outcome progression.
  • Support students to develop study skills, career ready behaviours and promote independent learning.
  • Ability to work across a large land-based campus to provide support across different curriculum areas (including Maths and English), which may also include practical support in workshop/outdoor environments.

The successful candidate will:

  • Level 3 or equivalent qualification or a willingness to undertake further training in the field of teaching and learning.
  • Minimum Level 2 Maths and English Grade 4 (GCSE Grade C) or equivalent.
  • Experience of having works professionally with young people in an education/ care setting.
  • Knowledge of the impact of specific learning difficulties, mental health difficulties and disabilities on learning.
  • Enthusiasm and drive for outstanding service delivery to support students with SEND fulfilling their potential.

As a College, we actively encourage applications from industry professionals without a teaching qualification, as well as those from qualified teachers. Reaseheath offers a full CPD programme with access to funded qualifications alongside hands on support whilst completing Further Education Training. Industry professionals joining the College in an academic role, will complete their Further Education Training whilst in post.

Please note this role constitutes ‘regulated activity’ as defined by the Protection of Freedom Act 2012. The successful candidate will therefore be required to undertake an enhanced DBS check with barred list information prior to starting employment. You must also have the right to work in the UK and will be required to provide evidence to support this. In addition, online checks will be carried out during the recruitment process.
