Job description

Fixed Term (4-6 Month Contract)

Due to a significant increase in volume, we are seeking an experienced Production Manager to support a second shift, ideally with experience in packing and assembly lines with approximately 100 staff. The role involves managing production teams through a team leader structure, requiring a hands-on approach in support areas such as quality, engineering, warehouse, and planning to ensure production targets are met. Providing clear leadership, direction, and communication to the teams is essential, along with maintaining quality and H&S standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide clear leadership and direction for the production teams.
  2. Ensure health and safety requirements and targets are met.
  3. Identify and implement continuous improvement projects by measuring, analysing, and improving systems and processes.
  4. Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Planning, and HR departments as part of the site management team.
  5. Resource planning and people management.
  6. Identify training needs and develop team members to meet succession plans.
  7. Utilise LEAN skills to improve processes and support LEAN activities on site.
  8. Report on weekly and monthly KPI metrics to senior management.
  9. Monitor production objectives and develop action plans to meet targets.
  10. Implement preventative actions to enhance process and product quality.
  11. Manage the production process to deliver the weekly schedule.
  12. Ensure all work orders are closed on SAP within defined parameters.
  13. Identify cost and efficiency improvements, planning and executing them.
  14. Ensure production is cost-effective and meets all cost targets.
  15. Manufacture products to the correct quality standards, right first time.
  16. Adhere to all quality procedures and maintain compliance with the Quality Management System.
  17. Manage holiday and absence for the production department.
  18. Perform any reasonable requests to support business needs.

Required Experience/Skills:

Essential:

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows environment.

Desirable:

  • Experience in Electronic Assembly or Medical Devices sectors.
  • Working knowledge of SAP.
Education/Qualifications/Training:

Essential:

  • Experience managing a production department in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Effective decision-making, planning, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of GMP standards.
  • Proven experience with Lean tools and techniques or Lean Six Sigma accreditation.
  • Competency in computer systems and programs.

Desirable:

  • Higher education qualification (Degree, HNC/HND).
  • Senior managerial experience.
