Procurement Manager – Temporary Opportunity

Location: Peterborough

Immediate Start Required

Are you an experienced Procurement Manager ready to make a real impact? We're seeking a proactive and dynamic leader to oversee the procurement function at a leading engineering business in Peterborough. This temporary position is perfect for someone who can hit the ground running and add value from day one.

The Role

As the Procurement Manager, you'll lead operational buyers across two sites, ensuring materials are delivered on time and to specification, supporting production schedules. You'll drive procurement excellence - optimising processes, managing supplier performance, and aligning strategies with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and develop procurement teams, setting clear objectives and ensuring targets are met
• Collaborate with stakeholders to align procurement policies and strategies with broader business goals
• Drive efficiency by implementing procurement solutions and processes to minimise transaction costs and leverage technology
• Develop strong supplier relationships to reduce lead times and mitigate risks
• Ensure suppliers adhere to social and environmental standards
  
  

About You

• Previous experience running a procurement function in a low-volume, high-mix engineering environment
• Proficiency with ERP/MRP systems
• A strategic thinker who's also comfortable rolling up their sleeves to get things done
• Willingness to travel within the UK if required
• A motivated self-starter with excellent negotiation and communication skills
  
  

Qualifications

• Technical undergraduate degree (Master's degree or MBA preferred)
• MCIPS (or equivalent experience)
