Interim Priest in Charge of Skelmanthorpe and Interim Associate Priest in the Emley Moor parishes
Overview
This is an exciting opportunity to be part of transformation and change leadership across a group of parishes and benefices.
Skelmanthorpe is a small town on Emley Moor in West Yorkshire, situated between Huddersfield and Wakefield, with easy access to Leeds and Bradford, and larger towns like Dewsbury, Halifax, and Barnsley. Excellent transport links include the M62/M1 motorways and rail services to London, Manchester, and Leeds. Leeds/Bradford Airport is about an hour away by road. Emley Moor is notable for its large TV transmitter tower between Emley and Kirkburton.
We are appointing to one of the remaining interim posts within a cluster, focusing on developing partnerships as missional churches for our communities. Each priest will oversee specific parishes and collaborate with colleagues across the area. One will focus on Skelmanthorpe and support the other two groupings; others will focus on churches in Shelley, Shepley, Cumberworth, Upper Denby, Kirkburton, Lepton, Emley, and Flockton.
We seek a priest committed to sharing in conversation and discernment, helping churches grow in numbers, spiritual commitment, and service, and working collaboratively to strengthen relationships across our congregations and parishes. We offer support, prayers, and practical help from our welcoming and friendly congregations.
Please see the Person Specification and Role Description attached for more details on the post and the qualities sought in the candidate.
