Job summary

Michael Page is seeking an Interim Payroll Accountant for a key payroll oversight role in Chippenham. You will manage payroll accounting activities, ensure accurate journals and reporting, and support month-end and audits in a fast-paced finance team.

Qualifications

• Experience in a Payroll Accountant, Financial Accountant or Management Accountant role.
• Strong understanding of payroll accounting, journals and reconciliations.
• Proven month-end and balance sheet reconciliation experience.
• Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong Excel and financial systems knowledge.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Responsibilities

• Ownership of payroll accounting activities across the finance function.
• Preparation and review of payroll journals and associated reporting.
• Completion of payroll-related balance sheet reconciliations.
• Support month-end, year-end and audit requirements.
• Review and investigate payroll variances and reconciling items.
• Ensure strong financial controls and compliance procedures are maintained.
• Partner with payroll, HR and finance stakeholders.
• Maintain accurate documentation and support process improvements.
• Provide guidance and support to junior team members where required
