Job Title: Interim Operations Manager

Location: Leicester, UK

Length: Minimum 3 months

Pay Rate: £350 per day

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Interim Operations Manager to oversee both warehouse and production operations for a leading B2B eCommerce business specialising in print-on-demand apparel.

This is a hands-on leadership role with responsibility for managing a team of around 50 staff across warehousing and automated garment printing operations. You will focus on implementing lean manufacturing processes, optimising efficiency, and supporting the business as it scales for growth. The role combines day-to-day oversight of operations with a strong emphasis on process improvement, system adoption, and team development.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operational Leadership: Oversee daily warehouse and production activities, including inbound, storage, picking, packing, despatch, and garment printing (print-on-demand and screen print).
  • Lean Process Improvement: Map, implement, and refine workflows to maximise efficiency, reduce downtime, and support scalable growth.
  • System Oversight: Utilise WMS/ERP systems (Odeon experience advantageous; other SAP-based systems acceptable) to manage inventory, track production, and streamline operations.
  • Production Planning & Scheduling: Ensure automated production lines run effectively with minimal downtime, working closely with the Production Manager to optimise scheduling and capacity.
  • Inventory Control & Reconciliation: Maintain accurate stock levels, ensuring consistency between physical stock and digital systems.
  • Change Management: Support the transition to new systems and processes, training and coaching team members to adopt updated procedures and best practices.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and motivate a team of approximately 50 staff, providing clear direction, setting KPIs, and fostering a collaborative and high-performance culture.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain a safe, clean, and compliant working environment across warehouse and production areas.
  • Data & Reporting: Monitor KPIs, reconcile production and inventory data, and provide operational insight to the leadership team.
Key Requirements
  • Proven experience in operations, warehouse, or production management within apparel, fashion retail, fulfilment, or a related fast-paced environment.
  • Strong track record of leading teams in both warehouse and production settings.
  • Experience implementing lean manufacturing processes and driving continuous improvement.
  • Proficiency with ERP/WMS systems (SAP-based preferred; Odeon advantageous).
  • Skilled in production planning, scheduling, and minimising downtime in automated environments.
  • Strong organisational and problem-solving abilities with a data-driven approach.
  • Excellent leadership, coaching, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of health & safety standards in both warehouse and production operations.
  • Ability to adapt quickly, work at pace, and manage operational change effectively.
