EG Group is seeking an Interim Management Accountant in Horwich (BL6 6JW) for a 3‑month fixed term. You will support monthly management accounts, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial analysis across the business, collaborating with Finance and operational stakeholders.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, you will contribute to month-end processes, budgeting, forecasting, and ad-hoc projects while working in a hybrid setup with some home working.

Qualifications

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
• Experience in management accounting or assistant management accounting.
• Strong Excel skills and data interpretation.
• Good understanding of month-end processes, journals, reconciliations and reporting.
• Strong organisational skills with multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Commercial awareness and stakeholder collaboration.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.

Responsabilités

• Producing accurate monthly management accounts, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations within deadlines.
• Lead or support month-end processes and ensure reporting aligns with Group requirements.
• Support variance and trend analysis with insights on sites and cost centres.
• Collaborate with operational and commercial teams for budgeting and forecasting.
• Manage balance sheet controls and fixed asset accounting; identify risks.
• Assist with quarterly reporting, statutory audits and ad-hoc finance projects.
• Drive continuous improvement of finance processes and reporting efficiency.

About the Role:

Cumberland Farms are looking for an Interim Management Accountant to join the Finance team at EG Group on a 3 month contract. In this role, you will support the delivery of accurate and timely management accounts, financial reporting, and performance analysis across the business, while working closely with both Finance and operational stakeholders.

Reporting into the Finance Manager, you will play a key role in month-end processes, balance sheet control, budgeting, and financial analysis, helping to support decision‑making and drive business performance. This role is well suited to a part‑qualified accountant who is looking to develop their experience within a fast‑paced, commercially focused environment with exposure to senior stakeholders and operational finance activities.

What you’ll be doing:

• Producing accurate monthly management accounts, journals, and balance sheet reconciliations within agreed deadlines.
• Leading or supporting month‑end processes, ensuring reporting is accurate, complete, and aligned with Group requirements.
• Supporting variance and trend analysis, providing insights into financial performance across sites and cost centres.
• Working closely with operational and commercial teams to support budgeting, forecasting, and business decision‑making.
• Managing balance sheet controls, fixed asset accounting, and ensuring financial risks are appropriately identified and managed.
• Assisting with quarterly reporting, statutory audits, and ad‑hoc finance projects where required.
• Supporting the continuous improvement of finance processes, controls, and reporting efficiency.

• Part-qualified accountant (ACCA, CIMA, or ACA).
• Previous experience in a Management Accounting or Assistant Management Accounting role.
• Strong Excel skills, with the ability to analyse and interpret financial data.
• Good understanding of month‑end processes, journals, reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
• Commercially aware, with the ability to work closely with operational stakeholders and support decision‑making.
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to build effective working relationships across the business.
• Proactive, adaptable, and eager to continue developing within a finance career.
