Sellick Partnership is seeking an experienced Closedown Accountant for a Local Authority. The role focuses on leading year-end closedown activities, preparing the Statement of Accounts and liaising with external auditors to ensure timely delivery.

You will require strong knowledge of local authority accounting, CCAB qualifications are advantageous, and you will manage key areas such as Collection Fund accounting and consolidation, working largely within a hybrid environment.

Qualificações

• Significant experience with local authority year-end closedown.
• Experience preparing Statements of Accounts.
• Knowledge of Collection Fund accounting and consolidation.
• Familiarity with CIPFA Code of Practice on Local Authority Accounting.

Responsabilidades

• Support the preparation of the annual Statement of Accounts and disclosure notes.
• Lead on areas including Collection Fund accounting, Group Accounts and consolidation.
• Prepare high-quality year-end working papers, reconciliations and technical accounting analyses.
• Support statutory returns and wider financial reporting requirements.
• Liaise with external auditors and respond to audit queries.
• Work with finance teams to ensure timely submission of year-end information.
• Identify opportunities to improve closedown processes and financial controls.
• Provide technical accounting support during closedown and audit period.
