Job summary

Practicus is seeking an Interim Housing Service Manager for a local authority in the United Kingdom. The role provides strategic and operational leadership across a broad housing portfolio during a period of transition, with a four-day working week.

Reporting to Director of Resources, the post focuses on homelessness prevention, housing needs, allocations, and housing development while ensuring statutory compliance and service transformation.

Qualifications

• Senior local authority or social housing leadership experience.
• In-depth knowledge of homelessness, housing needs and allocations.
• Knowledge of Housing Act 1996 Parts VI and VII.
• Experience leading service improvement and performance.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership of the housing service.
• Oversee homelessness prevention, temporary accommodation, and allocations.
• Drive service performance, improvement and transformation.
• Advise senior officers and elected Members on housing matters.
