Job description

Job Title: Interim Head of Health & Safety – Assets Directorate
Location: Trowbridge (Hybrid, 50% office-based)
Rate: £367/day
Contract: Interim

Overview:

We are seeking a Chartered Health & Safety professional to lead and develop a corporate health and safety service within an asset-focused directorate. This strategic interim role involves managing key risks and governance, leading a small advisory team, and overseeing the implementation of a new H&S software platform.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the organisation’s Competent Person for health and safety.

  • Advise senior leadership, including the Chief Executive, on H&S compliance and risk.

  • Maintain and enhance corporate H&S governance structures and assurance frameworks.

  • Lead and support the delivery of key H&S improvement projects.

  • Provide expert guidance, deliver training, and influence stakeholders at all levels.

Requirements:
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH)

  • Expert knowledge of health and safety legislation and best practice

  • Proven leadership experience within a corporate or large organisation

  • Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills

  • Experience with H&S governance, systems, and service improvement
