Job Title: Head of Capital Markets & Funding

Location: London

Role Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced and strategic leader to oversee and grow their capital markets and funding operations. This role is critical in managing their current funding partnerships, leading the execution of new funding arrangements, supporting pricing and portfolio decisions, and ensuring robust internal and external reporting. The successful candidate will also play a key leadership role within the company, contributing at both the Executive Committee and Board level.

Key Responsibilities

1. Funding Partner Management

  • Lead ongoing relationships with forward flow funding partners.
  • Chair monthly funder meetings and manage ad hoc discussions (e.g., weekly calls).
  • Drive the negotiation and execution of renewals, extensions, and any changes in terms.

2. Execution of New Funding Arrangements

  • Oversee the execution of new funding facilities and extensions.
  • Support legal documentation processes, including review and interpretation of redlines.
  • Guide the team in determining acceptable negotiation boundaries.
  • Develop and maintain summaries of key terms (e.g., indemnities) across all facilities to inform future negotiations.

3. Pricing & Loan Allocation

  • Support the Pricing Committee with decisions on loan allocation and concentration limits.
  • Provide analytical input to optimize trade-offs between yield, return, and volume.

4. Monitoring & Reporting

  • Oversee automated data reporting tools and enhance external servicing reports.
  • Improve internal communication and reporting on funding lines.
  • Manage and mentor a team of three, with a focus on developing internal capability.
  • Train a junior team member to take on greater ownership over six months.
  • If needed, lead the recruitment of a long-term team member with the appropriate skillset.

6. Funder Marketing & Relationship Development

  • Support business development efforts by nurturing the existing pipeline and identifying new funding opportunities.
  • Represent the company in discussions and due diligence with current and prospective funding partners.

7. Executive & Board Engagement

  • Serve as a member of the Executive Committee (monthly meetings), representing capital markets and funder relationships.
  • Present funding updates at Board meetings (bi-monthly).

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in capital markets, structured finance, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of legal documentation and commercial negotiation.
  • Experience managing external stakeholders and internal cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and develop high-performing teams.
  • Comfortable operating at both strategic and tactical levels, including Board and ExCo participation.
