Overview

Alfred H Knight has an exciting opportunity for an Interim Group Audit Manager to join our team in Liverpool, UK, on an 18 month contract. The Group Audit Manager plays a critical role in ensuring the financial integrity and statutory compliance of the organisation's UK and overseas operations. This position is central to managing external and internal audit processes, overseeing financial reporting and consolidation along with contributing to overall risk management. The role requires a highly experienced and professionally qualified individual who can lead complex financial processes and manage a small team.

Responsibilities
  • Managing and leading external audits for 23 UK business units and full group consolidation of all Group companies, including overseeing interim and main UK audits and the group consolidation audit.
  • Ensuring adherence to statutory requirements for UK subsidiaries and the Holdings Company, involving the conversion of trial balances, preparation of statutory account disclosures, and Corporation Tax reconciliations.
  • Directing consolidation activities, reviewing overseas financials, assisting with adjustments, preparing disclosures, and resolving cash flow queries.
  • Managing and conducting internal audit activities within the UK, with a focus on quarterly Purchase Ledger and Free Credits reviews, and thorough trial balance/nominal code and balance sheet reviews.
  • Taking ownership of the function, leading by example as a senior member of the team with integrity and honesty.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills and a collaborative approach to management.
  • Familiarity with data analysis techniques and tools essential for identifying trends, anomalies, and potential risks in large datasets.
  • Strategic mindset, aligning the risk and audit functions with the organisation's overall business goals.
  • Familiarity with risk-based auditing and risk and control strategies.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Trained in Practice with proven experience of audit in industry.
  • Strong experience across the entire audit process.
  • Ideally experience of working across multiple entities, both UK and overseas.
  • Proven experience managing the financial consolidation process for a multi-entity group, including the review and preparation of consolidation journals, intercompany eliminations, and the generation of consolidated financial statements.
  • Track record of leading, planning, execution and reporting on audits.
  • Knowledge of risk-based auditing and risk and control strategies.
  • Deep understanding of FRS102 and a good working knowledge of IFRS, ICAEW qualified (or equivalent).
  • Educated to degree level (or equivalent) would be desirable.
