Job summary

Addleshaw Goddard is seeking an experienced General Counsel to support a Public Sector client in London. The role is hybrid and full-time, for an initial six-month period starting in November 2026.

You will lead a large in-house team, provide strategic, practical, and high-quality legal advice, and work closely with executives and the board. You will also manage external counsel and legal budgets, and handle litigation matters.

Qualifications

• Strong practical experience leading an in-house legal function (GC or equivalent).
• A public-interest background.
• The ability to provide board-level advice.
• Experience managing external counsel and legal budgets.
• Experience managing litigation matters; and
• Ability to start on short notice (November 2026).
